This is a small (3 acre), private garden with a stunning collection of plants and trees from all over the world. We visited in December and there were a good number of plants in bloom. We spent 90 minutes exploring and finding new plants and vistas around every corner.

We come from the colder side of zone 6 and it always makes us jealous of what you can do in much warmer climes.

This is definitely worth a visit. No entrance fee, but there is a suggested donation.

This is an amazing place, a three-acre botanical garden bursting with color that's different every time you visit. It has mature specimens of rare plants and trees, such as Acer pentaphyllum (a type of Chinese maple) and Australia's Wollemi nobilus (Wollemi pine, a 250 million year old species) that are near extinct in the wild. You sign up on the website. It's only $10 a head, which includes a free bouquet.

The joy of quiet exploration! After negotiating the front gate our kids (10,12,15) immediately disappeared into the little elven pathways and were swallowed by the great garden for about an hour. A labyrinth of brooks and pools, majestic tall trees and whimsical surprises at every turn make this a fun and relaxing break from the hurly burly of Occidental, with its ziplines and Howard Station cafes. My daughter made a bouquet from fallen blooms, and my son spied on the cat. The new owners were very welcoming and have a fantastic vision for preserving and enhancing this unique property.

This is a hidden treasure! Beautiful and serene. Lots of benches along the many beautiful walking trails, which was such a plus for me with a bad knee and my elderly Mom. There are so many varieties of plants, trees and flowers to enjoy. The staff was so friendly and eager to help us with questions. We were even given lovely wildflower bouquets when we left. I highly recommend visiting here. I will definitely come again! 5 out of 5!

If you've never visited Wester Hills, go now. To see so many rare plants and tree that have been in the ground for decades is a pleasure and, for people who care about garden design, an education. This garden is an important part of Bay Area garden history and a revelation with each visit.
