Stunning scenery and amazing winery! The owner/winemaker, Dennis, was very inviting and was happy to give us a tasting of all his wines that he grows and makes on property. You will not be disappointed! What’s better than wine with a view and farm pets to hang out with while tasting!

Beautiful property, tasty samples, Interesting history! We’ve passed this business a million times and finally had a perfect opportunity to stop and partake. Pull into the business and if you’re lucky, you’ll meet Mark, their friendly, customer greeter. Cat. He’s a cat.

We also learned that they rent out their barn for weddings and other events! Looked at some pictures and we were very impressed. There is no reason at all to give this place less than a 5 *. Unless Marks not doing his job.

We grow Marquette in MA and enjoy touring other vineyards that grow it. No two are ever alike. Dennis tends 6000 vines and a homey winery operation. The tasting room is literally a part of his house. He’s very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to pour you samples. I really like that he bulk ages his wines for 5 years or so before bottling. It really makes them distinctive. Nice views too.

Not the best place to go to. We drove about a hour to go here and when we arrived we went inside to be greeted by fruit fly galore. The lady who was there was very standoffish she did pour me some wines that tasted pretty good so we bought 3 bottles and drove back. Opened the first bottle and it was rancid so we thought meh lets open another it happens same thing and then on our 3rd we opened and poured then was steams inside the bottle and again another rancid bottle. Not sure how to track as there are no dates or anything on the bottles. I do advise to stay away from this place.

What a great afternoon! We travel to vineyards all over the Northeast regularly and this vineyard was a pleasant surprise. Amy was an extremely gracious host and Mark, the vineyard tiger cat, treated us like old friends. The selections were unique and all estate grown. We completed a great day trip with a stop at the Taco Experiment in town where they serve Whaleback wines as well! We will definitely return!

Dennis was a very gracious host! We tasted many of the wines and walked out buying about 7 of our tasted choices. I was very impressed and am sorry they can't ship but it just gives me a reason to return.

Wonderful find in our travels. Spent an afternoon wandering around the area and stumbled upon Whaleback Vineyard. Very nice owners who took the time to answer our questions and let us sample their tasty wines.

We went last year for a tasting and ended up purchasing 14 total bottles. Two of them we finished quickly but the others we stored in our basement (proper storage, cool temps, no light exposure). Two weeks ago, we opened a bottle, only to find it completely rancid! We opened another - same thing. And another. 4 in total. Disgusted, we waited until today. We opened 4 new ones (one after another) and each was rancid. We noted that all of these rancid bottles have corks that look suspect, so possibly there was a bottling issue. We have not yet opened the remaining 4 but will do so within the next week; we are not hopeful, however... None of the bottles from this winery have production or expiration dates listed on the labels.

We have wines from all over NYS which are both older and newer yet none of them has demonstrated this problem, despite identical storage conditions, so this is a function of this winery.

Be warned!
