Stopped by while on a tour of the area on my bicycle. Beautiful countryside of Virginia, this stop adds some beautiful scenery and a nice stop to stretch the legs and browse the shop

My ancestors were involved with this mill in the early 1800's. My ggggg- grandfather Sheldon Thompson moved from connecticut too Tennesee briefly, and then Abingdon Va, in 1811, He married Nancy Bowman in Abingdon in 1812. It is likely that Sheldons oldest son Alexander Grandison Thompson preached at Wesley Chapel not far from the mill. Sheldon was appointed one of the first trustees of the church along with seven others including three Webbs, one Bowman, a Kelly, a Hill, and a Lowry.
