Your Grate Escape catered our wedding in September and we couldn’t have been more pleased! Clint is an absolute amazing cook, and every single one of our guest was in awe at how good the food was! Everything was set up beautifully and tasted absolutely wonderful! My husband is still talking about how he wants our wedding meal again for dinner!! Definitely book with Clint! You won’t be disappointed!

We are new to the area and went out on Father's day to find something to eat. After some google abd Facebook searching we found a Father's day Baby back ribs and fried chicken buffet at this place and decided to try it out. We loved it and will definitely eat here again.

We did catering for a family reunion this weekend. Rave reviews from the family continued all weekend long!! Clint was extremely easy to work with, the price was reasonable, but most importantly the food was delicious!! Clint arrived on time, took care of the set up. We were extremely happy with the entire experience. If you need catering in Tazewell, VA, I highly recommend Grate Escape.

I recently had Clint and staff to cater a baby shower. I was nervous, simply because I had used caterers in North Carolina and California for weddings in the past two years. On both occasions, I was so disappointed--did not get what I thought I was getting and paid for, and what I did get was not very good. This time, however, I could not have been more pleased with the quality of the food! It was fresh and appetizing to look at, and I received so many compliments. You know it is a success when all the food is consumed!! I will definitely use them again!!

Visited area for thanksgiving
Found this place on the web- great fb page, good website, appealing menu etc
Booked reservations- confirmed day ahead, arrived and was promptly seated.
That’s where the good ended

Waitress (only 2 for entire place) threw down 10 disposable napkins, real silverware in middle of our 6 top and asked us what we wanted to drink
Returned with disposable cups and Togo bottle sodas, teas and waters and said- ok go get started

Guessing that meant welcome, happy thanksgiving , we are offering a buffet today please enjoy etc , we walked up to explore the buffet

3 items on appetizer section-(less then advertised) all were 80 percent gone- so we grabbed a few slices of cheese and crackers- some cold veggie wraps-no labeling- and placed them on our disposable six inch plates.

Returned to table, enjoyed some laughs then decided to explore and eat buffet. But NO plates were offered- buffet was very messy-and not restocked
It was 3:02 and they opened till 4 pm and still were sitting new guests
Asked for plates- happy to see real China hard plates came out
We ended up all going thru the line- food was about a 7 so this was a plus- some was hot some not- some good some not
Time for dessert- back to disposables- horrid messy buffet area and yup once again items advertised where not displayed
Coffee was offered via self service- all disposable
The two waitresses did try hard and the eldest one was very sweet and tried to make our day very sweet. Because of her I gave this a 2 star. Would of been a one.

48 mins later we were done - NOT the holiday dinner we had hoped and drove 4 hours to get to- person doing their marketing gets a ten- online presence looks like its semi fine dining, china, well presented, upscale food - not the case in real life-

But the kicker was, owner himself rang us out
$139.00 plus $25 tip for a 48 min one trip thru disposable holiday dinner- he asked how it was, I said fair and was going to begin my concerns that if you only serve 70 percent of your menu, please do not charge me 100 percent etc and how the messy buffet appearance looked unappealing but he looked at me after I got fair out and said - oh just sign here and by the way next time we prefer cash or check due to our internet and pointed to a sign indicating that. I just bit my lip, smiled and left I dislike negative comments on the web, but when shut down by staff because you try in person , I assume he was not interested. So if you are thinking of going her please due better due homework then I. I was very embarrassed that I took my thanksgiving guests here!

Food was good and fresh, perfectly seasoned and not overly salted.. staff was warm and welcoming and very attentive. My family and I will definitely be back!!
